Howie Mandel apologizes for calling bulimia 'entertaining'

Howie Mandel is apologizing after he told an “America’s Got Talent” contestant that he made bulimia “entertaining” on Tuesday.

“I am NOT perfect. I make mistakes. I sincerely apologize to everyone who was offended,” the talent competition judge, 59, tweeted that same night.

After complimenting contender Stevie Starr, who is best known for swallowing objects whole, Mandel declared, “You, sir, make bulimia entertaining.”

Mandel also apologized later during the live episode.

“I just wanna take a second just to apologize. I made a comment earlier, it’s live television, I wasn’t thinking,” he said. “I made light of bulimia, which is a very serious eating disorder and mental health issue. I deal with mental health all the time, and I did something stupid. I should never make light of it. I apologize to anybody that was offended. I’m not perfect, I make mistakes.”

Mandel’s outspoken co-stars, including Melanie Brown, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum and Howard Stern, have yet to speak out.
